Power Home Remodeling in Chester Puts Philanthropy in Employee Hands

Power Home Remodeling employees, under its Power for Good program help renovate the Chester High Library.

Power Home Remodeling, based in Chester, has come up with a unique system that allows its employees to decide how they want to give back to the community,  writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.

Power for Good” is an employee-led year-round approach to philanthropy, utilizing six core programs, according to Jim Myers, Power’s director of community impact.

Andrea Recine, Power manager, external communications, explained how Power for Good began.

“Giving back has always been a huge part of our culture,” she said.

The Power for Good approach has distributed $3.5 million in grants to more than 1,100 schools and nonprofits.

Employees also volunteer at the programs they choose to support.

Locally, it’s generated $300,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Chester to send 150 kids to summer programming, with another $200,000 to the Big Brothers, Big Sisters Independence Region, and $50,000 to renovate the Chester High Library.

Power has helped fund a scholarship program for underserved students to attend Radnor High School.

It’s also raised $2.28 million this summer for the Haverford-based Alex’s Lemonade.

Power was also one of the premier sponsors of Delco Gives Day
