A second round of Delco Strong grants to help local businesses overcome the hardships of the pandemic have been approved unanimously by Delaware County Council.

Delaware County Council voted June 17 to use CARES Act funds to help businesses and nonprofits in Delaware County with economic loss and recovery.

The presentation will include information on the second round of the Delco Strong Grants, as well as information on the Paycheck Protection Program and the Main Street Program. Find details and register here. 

Delco Strong started in April, with businesses eligible to receive up to $7,500. Businesses were free to use the funds for rent, mortgage, utilities, and inventory.

More than 1,000 businesses applied for the grants in May. It is expected that more than 800 grants will be distributed from that first round using over $6 million in funding.

Council’s vote on June 17 allows for a second round of Delco Strong Grants  totaling $14 million to be released to eligible businesses and nonprofit organizations.

Eligibility requirements and instructions for both the business and non-profit programs will be posted online on June 24.

Applications will be accepted over several days beginning on July 7. This is not a first come first serve program.

The grants are being administered in partnership with the Delaware County Economic Development Oversight Board, the Delaware County Planning Commission, the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Delaware, and the Delaware Valley Regional Economic Development Fund.

The non-profit grant program will be administered by The Foundation for Delaware County.
