Upper Darby Rebuild is a $350,000 grant program to help qualifying Upper Darby businesses receive assistance to survive and reopen, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.

It will offer $2,500 grants to businesses with 25 or fewer employees as they continue to deal with the pandemic.

The program is funded through the U.S. Community Development Block Grant CARES Act.

Priority will go to low-to-moderate income businesses and businesses who have not received funding from other programs.

There’s a  Zoom information session 11 a.m., Monday, June 15. The link is at www.upperdarby.org or on the Entrepreneur Works site at myentrepreneurworks.org.

Upper Darby has partnered with Entrepreneur Works to help businesses navigate the application process and provide additional support.

Raj Akhtar, owner of Aban Sweets & Restaurant at 6908 Marshall Road, is applying as he reopens next week.

“It’s going to help me a lot because I’m completely broke,” he said. “I’ve been closed three and a half months. Bills I have to pay, bills that are on the way, like with the rent and there’s no money coming in right now.”
