Only 2 New COVID-19 Deaths Reported in Delaware County Since Friday. Cases Averaged 94 a Day

Two additional COVID-19 deaths have been reported in Delaware County since Friday, Feb. 12.

The COVID-19 death toll in Delaware County stands at 1,238.

One death was reported from Radnor and one from Darby Township.

Of total deaths reported, 788 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 fatalities by municipality as reported Feb. 16:

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The health department reported 377 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County since Friday, Feb. 12. That averages to about 94 cases per day. 

Total cases now stand at 36,699.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,060, or 9.22 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,497 cases reported, or 6.62 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 810 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 200,622 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 87.8 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Tuesday, Feb. 16, are:

  • Under 10: 1,414 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,713 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,213 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,373 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 4,975 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,744 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,534 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,331 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,399 cases

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Feb. 16, that there there have been 10,981 new  COVID-19 cases statewide since Friday, Feb. 12. That averages 2,475 cases per day. Total cases are now at 899,237.

 There were 167 additional COVID-19 deaths reported since Feb. 12, averaging 42 deaths per day, for a new total of 23,126.
