Two Delaware County pizza shops were singled out in a Washington Post survey for best regional pizza, one for Neapolitan and one for New York-style.

Two Delaware County pizza shops are ranking high in a Washington Post story on the best regional-style pizzas in Pennsylvania.

Ravanesi Pizzeria Napoletana in Glen Mills ranked third best among six pizzerias in Pennsylvania for Neapolitan-style pizza, writes Dylan Moriarty, Andrew Van Dam, Amanda Finnegan, and Gabe Hiatt for The Washington Post.

Neapolitan has a thinnish dough, puffed and blistered in a wood oven. It features creative gourmet-style toppings.

Ravanesi’s has received positive reviews in The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Daily Times, The Town Dish, and Philly Phoodie.com. It won a Main Line Today Best of award in 2018 and a Best of the Main Line Best Pizza award in 2015.

The Washington Post ranked Leandro’s Pizza House in Upper Darby second for the top New York-style pizza in Pennsylvania.

New York-style pizza is thin in the center with a sharp, salty flavor that comes from a herby tomato sauce with low-moisture mozzarella.

“It is a staple on 69th Street,” writes one Drexel Hill Yelp reviewer. “As a customer for over 25 years, I can honestly say this is one of the best pizzas, if not the best pizza around!”

The Washington Post analyzed 7.5 million Yelp reviews for its rankings.
