Update: Cases of COVID-19 Impacting Some Delaware County Zip Codes More Than Others

Cases of COVID-19 continue to increase rapidly across the nation and the state, with some areas in Delaware County affected more than others, write Sean Adams and Megan Lavey-Heaton for the Penn Live Patriot-News.

The latest numbers compiled by Pennsylvania Department of Health show that the rates of COVID-19 infection in each ZIP code statewide for the seven days ending December 9 compared to infection rates for the seven days prior.

The highest percentage increase in Delaware County over that period was recorded in ZIP code 19074 (Tinicum/Glenolden/Prospect Park/Norwood.) There the number of confirmed cases grew from 198 to 240, or 21 percent.

ZIP Code 19317 (Chadds Ford) saw an increase of 18 percent, with the number of confirmed cases rising from 173 to 204.

Meanwhile in ZIP code 19060 (Chester Heights) also recorded a rise, this one 11 percent, with the confirmed cases rising from 333 to 369.

Finally, in ZIP code 19043 (Holmes/Glenolden,) the number of cases went up from 104 to 113, or 9 percent.

However statewide, the densely-populated Philadelphia ZIP codes still continue to record the highest numbers of confirmed COVID-19 cases.
