A Glen Mills breakfast institution has served its last plate of eggs after nearly three decades, but the griddle is not going cold.
A homegrown Delco breakfast brand has already taken over the space, according to June Bakan for Patch.
The Coffee Station has opened its third location at 1117 Smithbridge Road, settling into the building that housed Meghan’s Restaurant for 27 years.
Meghan’s was the type of spot that anchored a weekend. Regulars came for the breakfast plates, the lunch options, the delicious coffee, and the comforting rhythm of a neighborhood diner.
The end came into view in March, when the owners announced the property was for sale.
They said they would welcome a new family or ownership group willing to carry on the Meghan’s tradition, while acknowledging that a buyer might want to reshape the space entirely.
The restaurant kept its doors open through the listing.
That new chapter belongs to The Coffee Station, which bought the property in a deal announced by realtor John Port of Long & Foster Real Estate.
The Glen Mills opening hands the Delco-born brand another location in the county and keeps Smithbridge Road firmly in the breakfast-and-lunch business.
The Coffee Station’s own story starts in 1983, when it opened as a small doughnut and coffee shop beside the Morton train station.
It later moved across the lot into the former PNC Bank building and grew into a full breakfast-and-lunch restaurant.
A second restaurant followed in Garnet Valley before the company added Glen Mills.
The menu leans into hearty comfort food.
Signatures include the Morton Monster breakfast sandwich and John’s Big Breakfast, alongside hoagies, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, omelets, soups, and salads.
The full story in Patch has more on The Coffee Station’s move and what’s next for the Smithbridge Road spot.
