Seven Delaware County places are among the ZIP codes with the highest percentage of adults that have advanced degrees in Greater Philadelphia, writes Kennedy Rose for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Most of the areas with the highest percentages were found in Philadelphia’s wealthy neighborhoods.

Haverford is Delaware County’s highest ranked ZIP Code in fifth place, with 46.5 percent of adults aged 25 and over having a graduate or professional degree.

Next is Villanova at No. 12 with 40.8 percent, followed by Wayne at No. 16 with 37.7 percent and Chadds Ford at No. 19 with 36.1 percent.  Swarthmore is at No. 24 with 32.1 percent.

The list is rounded off with Wallingford at No. 32 with 30 percent and Newtown Square at 48^th, with 28.1 percent.

The Philadelphia area is known for its high number of colleges and universities, which bring a lot of brainpower to the region.

In an attempt to see where this brainpower is most concentrated, the Philadelphia Business Journal looked at the ZIP codes in the region and ranked them according to the percentage of adults that hold advanced degrees.
