Her Sisters Made a Video With 200 Friends and Family to Help Her Through Leukemia Treatments
When Hope Wells, 23, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2018, she didn’t have to tackle the disease on her own. She had her five sisters to rally around her, writes Rita Giordano for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The six former students of The Christian Academy in Brookhaven have done everything together.
Charity, 25; Faith, 24; Joy, 22; Grace, 20; and Glory, 16, helped Hope through treatment. Along with their parents, Patricia and the Rev. Michael Wells, they’ve comforted her, fed her favorite dishes and prayed for remission so she could undergo a bone-marrow transplant.
This spring, when COVID-19 struck, Hope had to endure two hospitalizations, two months of treatment, on her own. By early May, she was feeling weak and low in spirit.
Then her sisters put together “A Message of Hope for Hope,” a support video from over 200 family and friends.
“Once I saw that video, I was crying, but I felt so much better,” said Hope. “I was in a lot of pain when I watched it. But it was a really healing video for me. It made me trust God so much more, and focus on my healing so much more.”
