At 250 Games, He’s Brandywine Penn State’s Winningest Coach

Penn State Brandywine women’s basketball Head Coach Larry Johnson has the most wins of any coach in Brandywine’s history, reports psu.edu.

On Dec. 11, he earned his 250th win with the team’s victory over Bryn Mawr,

Johnson’s in his 14th season with a 250-120 record. He has been selected as the Penn State University Athletic Conference coach of the year six times and has guided Brandywine to four conference championships.

Campus Athletic Director Bobbi Caprice, who played under Johnson during her four years as a Brandywine student, praised the coach for his commitment.

“Larry is so dedicated not just to women’s basketball, but to our entire athletic department,” she said. “He brings a great family environment to his program, and he always makes sure that academics are the number one priority.”

Myeisha Matos, coordinator of athletics at Brandywine, said he recruits student athletes who show potential to be successful on and off the court.

Brandywine senior and team co-captain Nikki Velez said building a team is one of Johnson’s strengths.

Johnson is active with other youth programs in the local community, including serving as vice president and immediate past president of the Media Youth Center.
