Darby’s Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital Offers State-of-the-Art Cancer Care

The Mercy Cancer Center at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby offers comprehensive treatment for patients from the moment they arrive, according to the winter edition of the Delaware County Regional News the official magazine of the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce.

“You don’t have to leave the community to get great cancer care,” said Dr. Eugene Choi, a hematologist and oncologist at the center.

Mercy focuses on a providing an all-in-one service that can help people through every stage of their treatment. From the moment a patient comes through the door, they are greeted by a trained oncology nurse who helps guide them through the entire diagnosis and treatment process.

The Mercy Cancer Team also takes into account each patient’s emotional well-being to help with his or her physical recovery.

This includes special classes to help improve quality of life, along with support groups for men and women. The center can also help with getting patients into clinical trials through the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Network.

“We are pleased to offer customized services that give patients the tools, support, and strength to tackle all aspects of their cancer diagnosis and care,” said Michele Zappile-Lucis, Director of Oncology and Rehab.
