Wawa’s dinner menu is being rolled out to more stores as it competes with national fast food giants, writes Laura Smythe for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The customizable dinner items include:

  • rotisserie chicken with mac and cheese;
  • braised chicken;
  • pork roast or pot roast with two sides;
  • penne or fettuccine pastas with alfredo, marinara or bolognese sauce. (Pasta dishes are also available with roasted chicken or vegetables, broccoli, meatballs and asiago cheese.
  • An angus beef burger with cheese and optional fries.

The items are “new and improved” after mixed reviews of an earlier test run.

There are six “Heat and Eat” meals:  penne chicken alfredo with broccoli, chicken and broccoli, chicken breast, spicy boneless wings, penne pasta with meatballs, and mac and cheese with barbecue pulled pork.

More than 100 stores in six states are in various stages of testing.

“We always strive to listen to our customers, so we’ve spent time testing menu items in select stores, gathering feedback and perfecting our recipes with the goal of providing a family, group of friends, etc. the ability to select their preferred dinner while still enjoying a meal together,” Mike Sherlock, Wawa’s chief product marketing officer, said.
