When a barbecue joint has sandwiches called the Gunslinger and the Triple Bypass, it’s probably good eating.
Tanglewood Fire and Smoke in the Ridley Shopping Center off of MacDade Blvd. was highlighted for its delicious barbecue by Bob Kelly of Kelly Drives at Fox 29.
“I’ve been cooking for a long time,” said owner Jeff Ebert. He opened Tanglewood four years ago.
“Now, every day, at 4 o’clock, we fire up the smoker for the next day, so brisket, that cooks overnight, 16-and-a-half hours.”
“Can you imagine the neighbors living out back, smelling this all night long? “ Kelly replied.
The brisket, which falls apart when you eat it, is the foundation for many of the other dishes served.
The Gunslinger Burger is two all-brisket beef patties, using the brisket trimmings to make the burger. Add to that smoked pork, hickory bacon, barbecue sauce, and crispy onions.
Even the baked beans are loaded up with pork belly, brisket, smoked pork, and bacon.
Then there’s the house-made pickles, highly recommended by a customer.
“My daughter gets mad if I don’t bring those home,” he said.
Topping it all is the Triple Bypass, with brisket, blackened pork belly, and hickory bacon.
