Love City Brewing is partnering with Sophie’s BBQ in Havertown to open a second location in Manayunk this spring, writes Molly McVety for PhillyVoice.
Sophie’s BBQ will run a full kitchen in Love City’s 4323 Main Street space, serving up smokehouse nachos, sliders, brisket cheesesteak, barbecue platters, and more.
It will be the exclusive caterer for Love City’s private bookings.
The new space is the former Fat Lady Brewing site.
“After customer requests and popular demand. … This is a moment that has been a long time coming,” said Sophie’s BBQ owner and executive chef Greg Herman in a statement.
The two-story, 5,900-square-foot space will have a taproom and retail space on the first level and an event area on the second.
Love City co-founder Melissa Walter said Sophie’s BBQ stood out immediately, “not just for the quality of the food, but for the care and intention behind it.”
Sophie’s BBQ opened in Ardmore in 2020 and was such an instant hit that they had to move to a bigger location at 1901 Darby Road in Havertown.
Herman said they scouted locations in East Passyunk, Northern Liberties, and Fishtown for a second location, but opted to collaborate with Love City, being big fans.
