With 17 Recipients, Villanova Named Top Fulbright Producer

Villanova University has once again earned Top Producer status for having a high number of Fulbright Scholars.

For the 18th straight year, Villanova University has earned Top Producer status for Fulbright Scholars, with 17 students receiving the prestigious award, writes Margaret Miller for the Villanova Newsroom.

The university joined Ivy League schools like Harvard and Yale, as well as local colleges including Swarthmore, Bryn Mawr, and Haverford, as top producers.

“Our students consistently excel as scholars and leaders, applying their Villanova education to build cross-cultural understanding and create lasting impact around the world,” said University President Rev. Peter M. Donohue, O.S.A., Ph.D.

Established in 1946, the Fulbright Program is funded annually by Congress through the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It serves as the federal government’s flagship international educational exchange program, which has been giving U.S. students the opportunity to foster mutual understanding through interactions with people from other nations.

Villanova runs this competition through the Center for Research and Fellowships. In the latest cycle, 42 out of 71 Villanova applicants have made it through to the semi-finals. These students will find out within the next three months whether they will have the opportunity to travel abroad next school year.
