Learn to Knit and Crochet at Roots Knitting Academy in Havertown

Havertown's Roots Knitting Academy and Shop is a labor of love by two friends who met when they were eight years old.

Roots Knitting Academy and Shop in Havertown is a labor of love by two friends who met when they were eight years old, began knitting together and have never stopped, reports Bob Kelly for FOX 29 Philadelphia.

The shop has also been seeing more visitors lately as knitting is becoming more popular once again.

“I think people are really interested in things that get them off their phones, give them something to do with their hands, and they get to make something that they can use,” said Natalie Dupont, co-owner of Roots Knitting Academy.

The shop offers various types of yarn for sale in a wide range of colors, as well as hats that are either made in shop classes or created as samples to showcase different yarns. Classes are taught three times a year, with 20 to 30 classes offered each session, ranging from beginner to advanced levels.

“We teach our adult classes for anyone 15 or older,” said Dupont. “We’re working on developing a children’s program in the new year, which will cater to kids eight plus.”
