The greatest wealth in the Philadelphia region still remains concentrated around Center City, as affluent urban ZIP codes dominate the list of the area’s wealthiest ZIP codes, writes Todd Romero for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The latest ranking of the wealthiest ZIP codes is based on several factors, including per-capita income, home values, equity, savings, poverty rates, and population density. Urban ZIP codes often dominate affluent suburban areas because of denser clusters of wealth and larger populations.
The top three ZIP codes on the Greater Philadelphia list also made the list of the 100 wealthiest in the nation.
Center City West (19103) took the top spot in the region coming in at No. 27 nationally. The ZIP code includes Rittenhouse, Logan Square, and Fitler Square, which are home to some of the city’s most expensive homes, including new ultra-luxury condos like The Laurel.
Second place goes to the Queen Village area (19147), which includes Queen Village, Bella Vista, and Passyunk Square, ranking No. 73 nationally. Old City and Society Hill (19106) follow in third locally and No. 96 nationally.
The top five are rounded out by the Art Museum area (19130) and SW Center City (19146) in fourth and fifth places, respectively.
