The region's wealthiest ZIP Codes have several things in common.

To no great surprise, the wealthiest households in the Greater Philadelphia Area continue to be found on the Main Line, in places like Villanova, writes Todd Romero for Philadelphia Business Journal.

More than half of the region’s wealthiest ZIP Codes are on the Main Line. Villanova’s ZIP Code of 19085 makes the list for being in the top two wealthiest ZIP Codes in the region.

The average household income in Greater Philadelphia’s wealthiest ZIP Codes is $250,572, with Villanova topping out at just below $450,000, according to the five-year American Community Survey.

Median value of owner-occupied homes in those ZIP Codes is an average of $694,048, with 81 percent of properties owned rather than rented.

The typical resident’s median age skews at 44 rather than 45 because of Villanova University students living there.

Married couples make up 79 percent of households in those ZIP Codes, with 74 percent of residents having a bachelor’s degree and 40 percent holding a professional degree.

In Villanova, the percentage of those with bachelor’s degrees is 90 percent.

Villanova and Haverford have the highest median mortgage payments at $4,000 plus.
