Aston’s Dr. Claudio Cerullo Named to President’s Anti-Bullying Task Force

Dr. Claudio Cerullo, of Aston, was selected to be a part of President Donald Trump’s national task force on school violence, and antibullying.

An Aston man will be joining President Donald Trump’s Task Force on School Violence and Bullying Prevention, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

Dr. Claudio Cerullo is a professor of psychology and a national anti-bullying and active shooter prevention expert.

“Dr. Cerullo will be an asset to this task force and with his extensive personal and professional experience, he will make a major impact in assisting our team in making recommendations to the overall committee,” said Dave Shrank, director of the National Trauma, Education, Mental Health and Policy Institute in Washington.

He will also lead the mental health subcommittee to develop recommendations for the federal government, schools, and other public and private entities to prevent bullying and violence in schools.

The task force will also look at technology-facilitated gender-based violence and the nexus between online harassment and radicalization to violence.

A particular focus will be on increasing support for survivors of online harassment and abuse, expanding research to understand the problem, and preventing violence among youth, while strengthening accountability for offenders and re-entry programs.

Dr. Cerullo is the founder of Teachantibullying.org and Sneakers For Smiles and is the author of “Inside The Mind of a Bully: From Victim to Advocate.”
