Delaware County Wineries Beckon With the Promise of Spring

With spring on the horizon, now's a good time to visit Delaware County wineries and beat the summer crowds.

Spring is nearly upon us and even if the weather hasn’t found us yet, it’s a good time to add Delaware County wineries to your day trip plans, writes Michele Edington for Main Line Tonight.

Here in Delaware County, there are two you can explore.

The estate for Penns Woods Winery in Chadds Ford offers hilltop views of the vineyard.

There is an indoor fireside tasing or outdoor seating.

Winemaker Gino Razzi is an Italian immigrant who has brought old world winemaking techniques to Pennsylvania.

Try the Penns Woods’ Viognier with white peach, honeysuckle and a hint of almond.

Ameritage, a Bordeaux-style red blend, has layers of blackberry, leather and a hint of dark chocolate.

The Penns Woods’ Moscato provides a delicate floral and juicy peach sensation.

Charcuterie boards with an outstanding cheese selection are available.

Grace Winery in Glen Mills features a vineyard and an historic estate.

The tasting room is housed in a restored 1750s barn.

Grace’s Merlot offers plush red fruit and subtle spice with a lingering finish.

The Rose is a delicate blend of bright strawberry and citrus notes.

Grace Winery also offers luxury accommodations for a weekend getaway.
