Dr. Maureen Reusche, the first woman to lead the Haverford School District, is retiring after nine years as superintendent at the end of the 2024-25 school year, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Times.
She has devoted 42 years to education.
Resusche guided the district through the COVID-19 pandemic years when schools were closed and learning transitioned to remote instruction.
Under Dr. Reusche, the district grew in enrollment, invested in school buildings, maintained a commitment to educational excellence and demonstrated its strategic value, School Board President Bridget Wiedeman.
Before Haverford, Reusche was superintendent of Cherry Hill Public Schools and also spent 12 years in various administrative roles at the Radnor School District.
Reusche is a Haverford native who sent her children to district schools, though she began her career with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, working at St. Margaret School in Narberth and St. Dorothy School in Drexel Hill.
“I am so proud of the work that our school district has accomplished and continue to be inspired daily by the dedication and talent of our staff and students,” she said. “Ours is a closely-knit community unlike any other — and one that always unites around and supports our students.
