Sharon Williams, a teacher at Rose Tree Media School District, is a finalist for the 2024 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year, reports the pa.gov website.

The Springton Lake Middle School eighth-grade language arts teacher is a faculty sponsor for the school’s Newspaper Club, responsible for the school newspaper, the Springton Lake Splash.

“We are so excited for Mrs. Williams, so proud of her and we know that she will represent our school so well,” said Springton Lake Middle School Principal Dr. Robert Salladino, Jr. in a May 12 video newsletter to the school.

Williams is included on a state list of 11 other finalists. She is the only teacher on the list from a Delaware County school district.

The Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year Program recognizes excellence in teachers each year by honoring K-12 teachers in public education who have made outstanding academic contributions to Pennsylvania’s school-aged children.

The 12 finalists are selected from applicants and recognized in Harrisburg each fall.

Pennsylvania’s Teacher of the Year will be announced at a state awards ceremony in December. They represent the Commonwealth at various national, regional, and local functions culminating in the National Teacher of the Year ceremony at the White House.
