Downtown Wayne now has a Blue Elephant, writes Caroline O’Halloran for Savvy Main Line.

This opulent but airy restaurant at 110 N. Wayne Ave. is now one of the swankiest spots on Wayne’s Restaurant Row.

“What if ‘Mad Men’ were set in today’s Tokyo? That was my vision,” explains Pearl Somboonsong Murphy, operations director for her parents’ Win Signature Restaurants, a group that owns several restaurants in Delaware County and the Main Line.

This is the second Blue Elephant to grace the restaurant scene. The first opened in Pottstown in 2019.

The restaurant’s second-floor dining room showcases an Asian Art Deco look, from elephant-head front-door handles and Bonzai boxwoods to crystal chandeliers, marble tables, and plush velvet drapes.

“We want to transport you, show you that you don’t have to head into Philly to get a sophisticated design vibe,” Somboonsong Murphy said.

The menu is a mix of Japanese and Italian with a touch of Thai.

That opens up combinations like edamame truffle tortellini and squid ink pasta with jumbo shrimp in a Thai spice blend.

Wayne is filled with great restaurants but most serve American food like burgers, pizza, and pasta. We wanted to add diversity, an Asian element.”
