SAP’s US headquarters in Newtown Square was among 14 Philadelphia-area companies chosen by Forbes to place in the top 50 companies nationwide as among the best workplaces for women, writes Lisa Dukart for Philadelphia Business Journal.

SAP came in 9th on the list locally, joining AstraZeneca in Wilmington at No. 7, Unisys in Blue Bell at No. 18, NFI Industries based Camden at No. 38, Philadelphia’s Penn Medicine at No. 89 and Lincoln Financial in Radnor, placing 253th.

In 2021, no local companies made it in the top 50 on Forbes list.

Forbes expanded its rankings this year by 100 companies to include the top 400.

Forbes worked with market research firm Statista, which conducted a survey of 50,000 Americans—30,000 of them women—from companies that had at least 1,000 employees.

Respondents were asked to rate their companies on working conditions, diversity and the likelihood they would recommend their employer to others.

Women respondents were asked about parental leave, pay equity and discrimination.

Two other large Pennsylvania employers also made the list. The Hershey Co. came in at No. 298 and PNC Bank, headquartered in Pittsburgh, came in at No. 315.
