COVID-19 Cases Up Slightly, New Delaware County Cases Breach 100 for Friday, May 7

Six new COVID-19-related deaths were reported for Friday, May 7, according to the Chester County Health Department.

The health department is reporting a total of 1,404 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

1 fatality was reported in Upper Darby, 1 in Chester, 1 in Lansdowne, 1 in Norwood, 1 in East Lansdowne, and 1 in Chadds Ford.

Of those, 830 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 48 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 106 new cases reported Friday, May 7.  Total cases are 47,385.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 739, affecting 11.38 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 7,029 cases reported, or 8.47 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The county has had 237,573 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 89.11 percent recovery rate.
