No New Reports Since Friday of Any COVID-19 Deaths in Delaware County, 108 New Cases

For several days in a row, no new COVID-19-related deaths have been reported in Delaware County.

The COVID-19 death toll has stood at 1,261 since Friday, Feb. 19.

Of total deaths reported, 797 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 fatalities by municipality as reported Feb. 23:

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 108 new COVID-19 cases reported Tuesday, Feb. 23, in Delaware County Total cases now stand at 37,309.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,070, or 9.3 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,582 cases reported, or 6.73 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 806 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 202,789 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 89.56 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Tuesday, Feb. 23, are:

  • Under 10: 1,466 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,815 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,290 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,474 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,063 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,822 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,586 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,364 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,426 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Feb. 23 that there were 2,380 new COVID-19 cases statewide. Total cases are now at 917,848.

 There were 94 additional COVID-19 deaths reported for a new total of 23,711.
