COVID-19 Daily Cases Remain High in Delaware County, Hovering Near 200 for Thursday

No COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Delaware County for Thursday, April 15, according to the Chester County Health Department.

As of Thursday, the health department was reporting a total of 1,362 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 825 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The health department also reported there have been 194 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported Thursday, April 15 since the previous day. Total cases, as of April 15, are 44450.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 711, affecting 10.95 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 6,581 cases reported, or 7.93 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 937 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 226,333 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 88.26 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Thursday, April 15, are:

  • Under 10: 2,028 cases
  • 10 to 19: 5,076 cases
  • 20 to 29: 7,467 cases
  • 30 to 39: 6,517 cases
  • 40 to 49: 6.032 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,812 cases
  • 60 to 69: 5,274 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,636 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,603 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, April 15, there were 5,060 new cases of COVID-19 statewide. Total cases now number 1,092,852.

The state is reporting 44 additional COVID-19 deaths for April 15. The statewide death toll is 25,566.
