4 COVID-related Deaths Reported Friday, With 210 New Positive Cases for Delaware County

Delaware County added 210 new positive cases of COVID-19 Friday to the total number of cases reported in the county, according to statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

The health department reported 31,839 positive cases Thursday and 32,049 positive cases Friday.

Four new COVID-10-realted deaths were reported from Middletown, for a new total of 1,053.

Of total deaths reported, 709 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 972, or 8.45 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 4,868 cases reported, or 5.87 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 714 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 184,992 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 80.07 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Friday, Jan.15 are:

  • Under 10: 1,143 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,136 cases
  • 20 to 29: 5,492 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 4,724 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 4,365 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,027 cases
  • 60 to 69: 3,953 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,033 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,173 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Jan.15 that there were 6,047 additional cases of COVID-19 reported, for a new total of 754,611.

 There were 215 additional deaths for a new total of 18,957.
