COVID-19-Related New Deaths at 9 Reported in Delaware County for April 28

Nine new COVID-19-related deaths were reported for Wednesday, April 28, according to the Chester County Health Department.

As of Wednesday, April 28, the health department was reporting a total of 1,384 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 829 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

3 new fatalities were reported in Upper Darby, 3 in Chester, 1 in Marple,  1 in Springfield, and 1 in Aston.  

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

New Cases

There were 136 new cases reported for Wednesday, April 28. Total cases are 46,496.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 730, affecting 11.24 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 6,884 cases reported, or 8.30 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 975 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 232,950 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 87.29 percent recovery rate.

  • 20 to 29: 7,787 cases
  • 30 to 39: 6,852 cases

  • 70 to 79: 2,697 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,624 cases
