Number of COVID-19 Deaths Dropping. Weekend Saw 265 New Case in Delaware County

No additional COVID-19-related deaths were reported Monday, March 15 in Delaware County:

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,305 fatalities.

Of those, 804 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 265 new positive COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported between Friday, March 12 and Monday, March 15. Total cases are now 39,656.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,114, or 9.69 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,936 cases reported, or 7.15 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 861 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 211,148 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 91.05 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Monday, March 15, are:

  • Under 10: 1,600 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.228 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,647 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,779 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,381 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,178 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,838 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,490 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,511 cases

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 15, that there were 6,142 new cases of COVID-19 statewide between Friday, March 12 and Monday, March 15.  Total cases now number 967,598.

The state is reporting 57 additional COVID-19 deaths between Friday, March 12 and Monday, March 15. Statewide death toll is now 24,587.
