See Where COVID-19 Is Spreading the Most and Least This Week in Delaware County

Some ZIP Codes and communities of Delaware County are being affected more by an increase in COVID-19 cases than others, write Sean Adams and Megan Lavey-Heaton for the Harrisburg Patriot-News.

However, across the board, percentage increases in cases were generally down the week leading up to Feb. 3, compared with previous weeks.

The following four ZIP Codes saw the highest percentage increase in cases in Delaware County for the seven days prior to Feb. 3.

Tied for the highest percentage increase were ZIP Codes 19085 and 19317 which contain the communities of Villanova and Chadds Ford. A 5.1 percent increase in cases were reported for each.

ZIP Code 19085 (Villanova) saw 13 new cases in the week for a total of 270 cases.

ZIP Code 19317 (Chadds Ford) saw 18 new cases in the week for a total of 374 cases as of Feb. 3

Third highest was ZIP Code 19073, containing Newtown Square. It saw a 4.3 percent increase in cases. That ZIP Code had 41 new cases for a total of 1,003 as of Feb. 3.

Fourth highest was ZIP Code 19029 containing the communities of Lester and Esssington. It had an increase of 4.2 percent for the week. There were 10 new cases for a total of 247 as of Feb. 3.

The four ZIP Codes showing the lowest increase in cases for the seven days prior to Feb. 3 were:

19017 (Chester Heights) and 19319 (Cheyney) both showed a zero percent increase in COVID-19 cases for the week. Chester Heights is reporting 19 total cases. Cheyney is reporting 18 total cases.

ZIP Code 19082 (Upper Darby) had the next lowest percentage increase, at 1.7 percent. Upper Darby had 43 new cases for the week and a total of 2,569 cases as of Feb. 3.

Fourth lowest was 19086, containing the communities of Wallingford and Rose Valley. A 1.9 percent increase in cases was reported for the week. Thirteen new cases were reported in the ZIP Code, with a total of 685 COVID-19 cases as of Feb. 3.

Five additional ZIP Codes tied with a 2 percent increase for the week. They are 19043 (Holmes), 19050 (East Lansdowne, Lansdowne and Yeadon), 19070 (Morton), 19373 (Thornton) and 19010 (Bryn Mawr).

These latest numbers are compiled by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
