Former Bonner/Prendie President Hospitalized, Fighting a COVID-19 Battle

By

The former president of Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast High School in Drexel Hill is battling for his life after being hospitalized for several weeks with COVID-19, reports Joe Holden for Philadelphia.cbslocal.com.

The family of Augustinian Priest Father Gus Esposito announced his COVID fight days before Christmas and reported he has been on a ventilator for more than two weeks.

“He means the world to so many people, especially to all of his family. We love him and we miss him so much, and I just want him to come back to us,” said Theresa Scanlan, Esposito’s sister.

Father Esposito, a Darby native, was also a professor at Saint Charles Seminary and taught at Villanova University for four years.

His family has praised the work and compassion of nurses and doctors at Bryn Mawr Hospital, where Father Esposito is being treated.

“I feel like the nurses’ arms and hands are ours as they wrap him and take care of him so I’m so grateful to them, Scanlan said.

Scanlan said nurses on their lunch breaks have prayed with the family at her brother’s bedside.
