Health Department Adds 15 More to Delaware County’s COVID-19 Death Toll

Updated COVID-19 records on Dec. 3 from the Chester County Health Department now list 15 additional COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County, with total positive cases at 20,903.

Of the 867 deaths reported, 642 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the Chester County Health Department.

On Dec. 1, the Chester County Health Department listed 852 COVID-19-related deaths.

Residents were from Marple, Yeadon, Upper Darby, Darby Borough, Concord, Springfield, Lansdowne, East Lansdowne and Darby Township.

Two residents each from Haverford, Radnor and Ridley were also listed as fatalities.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 782, or 6.81 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 3,243 cases reported, or 3.9 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 478 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 159,700 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 66.76 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Thursday, Dec. 3 are:

  • Under 10: 600 cases
  • 10 to 19: 1,972 cases
  • 20 to 29: 3,792 cases
  • 30 to 39: 3,073 cases
  • 40 to 49: 2,862 cases
  • 50 to 59: 3,273 cases
  • 60 to 69: 2,442 cases
  • 70 to 79: 1,323 cases
  • 80 and over: 1,564

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Dec. 3, that there were 11,406 new cases of COVID-19 statewide, with the total number of cases now at 386,837.

There were 187 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, with total deaths for Thursday, Dec. 3 reported at 10,944.
