Delaware County Continues to See Higher COVID-19 Cases, Echoing State, National Trends

New cases of COVID-19 remained high again Tuesday, with 127 new cases reported in Delaware County. That brings the total number of cases to 13,386, according to the Chester County Health Department.

Two residents from Yeadon and Folcroft lost their lives to COVID-19, raising the death toll to 810.

Of those, 621 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus, with three new cases reported since Tuesday. Total cases are 574, or 5 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, with 2,047 cases reported, or 2.47 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 321 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 129, 126 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting an 80.93 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Oct. 27 are:

  • Under 10: 273 cases (up 1)
  • 10 to 19: 1,110 cases (up 18)
  • 20 to 29: 2,474 cases (up 24)
  • 30 to 39: 1,851 cases (up 24)
  • 40 to 49: 1,765 cases (up 22)
  • 50 to 59: 2,036 cases (up 18)
  • 60 to 69: 1,599 cases (up 11)
  • 70 to 79: 945 cases (up 5)
  • 80 and over: 1,332 cases (up 4)

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Oct. 27, that there were 2,751 new cases of COVID-19 across the state, bringing the statewide total to 198,446.

There were 23 new deaths reported statewide for
Tuesday, Oct. 27, with total deaths listed at 8,696.
