Deer Creek Malthouse in Glen Mills is taking its sixth annual “Malt-A-Palooza” fall harvest festival virtual this year, writes Max Bennett for patch.com.

This year’s event will go online with a remote happy hour 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, where a new all-Pennsylvania sourced beer, “PA Pride,” will debut.

Several Pennsylvania craft breweries collaborated to create the hazy pale ale.

The recipe includes spelt malt from Dauphin County and barley malt from Chester County.

The beer will be packaged and released in 16-ounce cans featuring the Deer Creek barn and other Pennsylvania imagery.

Deer Creek teamed with Chatham University and the Grains & Revolution Conference to create the virtual event. Breweries in PA, a digital promotion company, worked on the PA Pride virtual promotion.

It will be moderated by Deer Creek founder and maltster Mark Brault. A highlight will be a beer tasting and panel discussion.

Deer Creek is Pennsylvania’s first Malthouse to open since prohibition.

The focus of Malt-A-Palooza has been to showcase Pennsylvania brewers and beer made with grain and malt.

The festival normall has beer and food tastings, Malthouse tours, hay wagon rides, games and live music.
