Deer Creek Malthouse in Glen Mills Receives Grant to Promote State’s Beer Industry

By

Deer Creek Malthouse in Glen Mills is one of the recipients of the recently announced grants that have been awarded by the Pennsylvania Malt and Brewed Beverage Industry Promotion Board, writes Harold Brubaker for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The two-year-old Promotion Board was created specifically to promote Pennsylvania beer, with its $705,000 in grants intended to do exactly that. Among the winners are projects that support beer tourism, the development of state hops and malt industries, as well as projects that include a documentary, television series, and a beer-review website.

Deer Creek Malthouse was awarded $49,214 for its project. It’s a co-sponsor of the second Philadelphia Grain & Malt Symposium at the University of the Sciences.

The Board is funded by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board with up to a $1 million annually. This year, the grants range from an award of $127,500 for the identification of 12 beer trails to $7,147 for two matchmaking events to bring farmers and brewers together.
