Lori Brennan of Broomall has worn many hats in our region. She’s worked with People’s Light in Malvern, the Academy of Natural Sciences and the University City District.

Now she’s re-embracing conservation as executive director of the Nature Conservancy’s newly-merged Pennsylvania and Delaware chapters, writes Eleanor Ho for Main Line Today.

The Nature Conservancy is a nonprofit that works to protect land worldwide.

Brennan developed a connection to the outdoors during her time at West Virginia University.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to sit exactly where I am today. My personal goal is—and has always been—to really make the biggest impact that I can,” she says.

As director, she would work to restore and protect nature in Pennsylvania. Also important is the development of clean energy, energy efficiency and electric vehicle deployment.

She also supports carbon emission reductions that match Paris Agreement goals.

The Nature Conservancy hopes to buy a 1,276-acre property in central Pennsylvania to connect public lands to the Cove Mountain Preserve, creating a 14-mile contiguous corner of protected land along an important climate and migratory bird corridor.

Future Conservancy plans call for improving the Chesapeake Bay’s water quality.
