40 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported Thursday in Delaware County, for aTotal of 11,572

There were 40 new cases of COVID-19 reported Thursday, Oct. 1 for Delaware County since cases were last reported Wednesday. Total number of cases is now 11,572, according to the Chester County Health Department.

No additional residents lost their life to COVID-19. Total county deaths remain at 796.

Of those, 614 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 546 cases, affecting 4.76 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,788, affecting 2.15 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The following are the number of reported cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County as of Thursday, Oct. 1, listed by municipality in descending order of caseload.

The list includes which communities saw an increase in cases based on previously unassigned cases and new cases since Wednesday, Sept. 30, the last date these statistics were updated.

There are 294 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 108,435 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting an 84.36 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Oct. 1 compared to Sept. 30, are:

  • Under 10: 202 cases (up 3)
  • 10 to 19: 910 cases (up 2)
  • 20 to 29: 2,073 cases (up 11)
  • 30 to 39: 1,586 cases (up 7)
  • 40 to 49: 1,503 cases (up 5)
  • 50 to 59: 1,772 cases (up 2)
  • 60 to 69: 1,416 cases (up 5)
  • 70 to 79: 855 cases (up 4)
  • 80 and over: 1,294 cases (up 1)

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Oct. 1, that there were 1,156 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since statistics were last reported Wednesday, bringing the statewide total to 160123.

There were 18 new deaths reported statewide as of
Thursday, Oct. 1 since these statistics were last reported Wednesday, with total deaths listed at 8,160.
