The Department of Music and Dance at Swarthmore College has brought its performance series to Zoom, reports the broadwayworld.com staff.

The semester-long series will bring prominent guest artists to the campus community over Sunday Zoom session at 1 p.m. EST.

There will be appearances by Rhiannon Giddens, Branford Marsalis, Wu Man, Third Coast Percussion, Akropolis Reed Quintet, Jasper String Quartet, Christine Lamprea, and Maríé Abe.

“This series gives Swarthmore students a unique opportunity to interact with some of the most dynamic and creative musicians of our time,” says Senior Lecturer in Music Andrew Hauze. “While we’re very sad not to be able to present live events on campus, we are thrilled that we can offer these intimate virtual sessions to our students on Zoom, as well as to the general public on YouTube.”

The series runs over eight Sundays for students, faculty and staff of the College.

A live stream of the event can be viewed by members of the public on YouTube.

Third Coast Percussion kicks off the series on Sept.  27.

Each event includes an informal presentation from the artist along with a question and answer session with students.
