31 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported Friday in Delaware Count, 3 COVID-19-Related Deaths

There were 31 new cases of COVID-19 reported Friday, Sept. 18 for Delaware County since cases were last reported Thursday. Total number of cases is now 11,113, according to the Chester County Health Department.

Three new COVID-related deaths were reported in the county, with one in Marple, one in Upper Darby and one in Media. The total is now at 787.

Of those, 607 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have now been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 531 cases, affecting 4.63 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,741, affecting 2.1 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The following are the number of reported cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County as of Thursday, Sept. 17, listed by municipality in descending order of caseload.

The list includes which communities saw an increase in cases based on previously unassigned cases and new cases since Wednesday, Sept. 16, the last date these statistics were updated.

There are 295 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 99,226 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting an 83.5 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Sept. 18, are :

  • Under 10: 178 cases
  • 10 to 19: 817 cases (up 1)
  • 20 to 29: 1,953 cases (up 11)
  • 30 to 39: 1,516 cases (up 3)
  • 40 to 49: 1,443 cases (up 6)
  • 50 to 59: 1,711 cases (up 3)
  • 60 to 69: 1,372 cases (up 6)
  • 70 to 79: 837 cases (up 2)
  • 80 and over: 1,285 cases

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Sept. 18, that there were 760 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since statistics were last reported Thursday, bringing the statewide total to148,683.

There were 21 new deaths reported statewide as of
Friday, Sept. 18, with the total deaths listed at 7,934.
