Power Home Remodeling in Chester is consistently ranked as a top workplace in the country. Working in an office community could be one of the reasons, says Power Home CEO Asher Raphael in an interview with David Murrell for phillymag.com.
Even though Power Home has closed its offices since mid-March out of concern for people’s health, it intends to reopen every office eventually.
The goal is that employees should be happy as well as healthy, Raphael said.
“What I really look for is fulfillment. And I think a big part of living a fulfilling life is having deep, meaningful relationships with people. Being physically present is an important part of that,” he said.
Raphael believes moving everything permanently from office to home is really just a financially-based decision, letting employers cut huge line items from their overhead, even when employees say they prefer to work from home.
Being happy working from home doesn’t necessarily mean employees are fulfilled.
Plus, many people at home are feeling lonely and anxious, cut off from their community. Workers who don’t want to come into the office are probably working somewhere without a dynamic, enjoyable work environment, he added.
