Mobilion Systems in Chadds Ford has raised $35 million to launch its first product based on its patented SLIM technology that makes it more efficient to identify molecules in the treatment of disease, writes John George for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The funds will build a commercial team to work on launching the company’s first product, based on its ion mobility separations technology that is able to efficiently identify molecules for diagnosing and treating diseases.

The technology digitizes the separation process for identifying molecules in a compound. That gives a clearer view of the molecules, identifying biomarkers linked to diseases.

The Series B funding was led by aMoon, an Israeli life sciences venture fund.

“We are very excited to have aMoon join our existing community of investors, who collectively share our vision to advance health care and improve how we predict, diagnose and treat disease by revealing molecules that other instruments leave unseen,” said CEO Melissa Sherman said in a statement.

Staff will double from 35 to 74 in the months ahead.

They will work in engineering, project management, product development and sales.

The product will be launched in North America in 2021.
