About 60 to 70 peaceful protesters gathered with signs Wednesday along Garrett Road at Lansdowne Avenue in Upper Darby chanting “Black Lives Matter,”  “George Floyd” and “No Justice, No Peace,” writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.

The gatherings there and around Delaware County this week are follow ups to a protest Sunday in front of Upper Darby High School.

Vehicles honked in support.

“People are pretty scared right now, especially with some of the riots going on,” said Drexel Hill resident and co-organizer Kyle McIntyre.  “I think by seeing peaceful protesters, it helps people understand … that this really is a serious issue and we’re still here fighting and we’re not going to give up.”

BJ Bryant of Drexel Hill was one of the first to show up for the protest, having walked there a mile from her work holding a sign.

“I want justice for George Floyd and for all the black men that have been killed because of police brutality,” she said. “I wanted to show up for this one.”

Maureen Irving said she was moved to participate after watching the George Floyd video.

“As a mother watching that, my heart breaks,” she said.
