Crozer-Keystone Close to Sale of Community Hospital Campus in Chester

The Crozer-Keystone Health System is getting closer to selling its Community Hospital campus in Chester, write John George and Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The sale is part of the Delaware County-based system’s plan to consolidate all of its behavioral health services at one site. The asking price is $2.31 million.

“I would say we’re past the potential buyers kicking-the-tires stage,” said Patrick Gavin, Crozer-Keystone president and CEO. “There are active discussions going on.”

The property consists of four buildings totaling 307,931 square feet at two addresses, 2600 West 9th Street and 2601 West 10th Street in Chester. Crozer-Keystone has had the property on the market since earlier this year, said

Bill Tourtellotte, an investment broker with CBRE who is handling the sale.

Crozer-Keystone started transitioning some of the services out of the facility three years ago. The majority of the programs have now been transferred to Crozer-Keystone’s North Campus in Chester, about two miles away.

The idea is to provide better service by being closer to patients.

“About five years ago, we developed a plan to do this,” said Gavin. “A key reason is efficiency.”
