Delaware County Now Reports 25 People Lost to COVID-19, Countywide Case Load Hits 1,042

The number of COVID-19 related deaths in Delaware County has now risen to 25, and the number of positive confirmed cases of coronavirus stands at 1,042 as of Wednesday, April 8, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

Yeadon has lost six people to COVID-19, the highest number of deaths in the county.

Marple and Middletown still have four deaths in each municipality.

Lansdowne and Ridley lost two people each to COVID-19.

Newtown, Darby Borough, Ridley Park, Springfield and Norwood report one fatality from the coronavirus.

The virus is now reported in 46 of the 49 municipalities, with no cases reported in Upland, Rutledge and Lower Chichester.

There are 347 cases under investigation that are not yet tied to a municipality.

Upper Darby has 109 reported cases, the highest number in the county, affecting .13 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Haverford Township has 59 cases confirmed. Marple has 40.

Nether Providence has 35 cases. Radnor has 34. Middletown Township has 32.

Newtown has 25.  Darby and Yeadon boroughs have 24 cases each. Thornbury and Ridley Townships have 23 cases each. Springfield has 22 cases. Lansdowne has 20.

The city of Chester has 18 cases. Aston has 17 confirmed cases of COVID-19.  Collingdale and Upper Chichester have 16 cases each. Concord has 14 cases. Ridley Park has 11 cases.

Darby Township has 10 cases. There are 9 each in Swarthmore and Upper Providence. There are 8 cases in East Lansdowne, Chester Township, and Sharon Hill. Colwyn, Media and Folcroft have 7 cases each. Aldan and Clifton Heights have 6 cases each.

Trainer and Parkside have 5 reported cases each.

There were 4 cases each in Morton, Bethel, Edgmont, Norwood and Glenolden.

Millbourne, Chadds Ford and Prospect Park had 3 cases each of COVID-19.

Two cases each were reported each in Eddystone, Rose Valley and Tinicum.

One case each was reported in Marcus Hook, Brookhaven and Chester Heights.

No cases were reported in Lower Chichester, Rutledge and Upland.

The county had 4,075 people test negative for the virus.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed as of midnight., April 8, that there are 1,680 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 16,239.

All 67 counties in Pennsylvania now have cases of COVID-19.

The department also reported 70 new deaths among positive cases, bringing the statewide total to 309.
