Coronavirus Update: 17 More County Residents Reported Dead From COVID-19, Total Now 91; 2,460 Cases Reported

There were 17 more COVID-19-related deaths reported in Delaware County as of Sunday, April 14, bringing the number of fatalities to 91, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

Of those 91 deaths, 60 occurred in a nursing home or personal care facility in the county, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Yeadon and Marple both now lead in the number of reported COVID-19 deaths, at 15 each.

Middletown had 13.

Nether Providence has had eight.

Haverford has 7.

Upper Darby and Darby Borough have six reported COVID-19 deaths each.

Five deaths have also been reported among 883 cases under investigation to which no municipality has been identified.

Two deaths each have been reported in Sharon Hill, Newtown, Lansdowne, Norwood, Springfield and Ridley are reporting two deaths each.

One fatality is reported each in the city of Chester, Collingdale, Clifton Heights and Ridley Park.

The county’s total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases has increased by 179 and is now at 2,460.

The virus is reported in 47 of the 49 municipalities, with no cases reported in Rutledge and Lower Chichester.

Yeadon Borough has the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 106 cases, affecting .92 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most reported cases, at 245, affecting .3 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The county had 6,227 people test negative for the virus.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of midnight, April 19, that there are 1,215 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 32,284.

The department also announced that electronic and probable-cause deaths are now being reported, causing a reporting increase of 276 new deaths among positive cases, bringing the statewide total to 1,112.  Of those, 624 were in nursing homes and personal care facilities.
