Kingery, a 3-month-old boxer/American Staffordshire terrier mix from Media’s Providence Animal Center, was a winner at this year’s Puppy Bowl XVI on the Animal Planet Sunday, writes Anna Orso for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Kingery was on Team Fluff which earned the coveted “Lombarky” Trophy.

It was one of three Philadelphia area dogs out of 40 nationwide on the starting lineup.

Joining Kingery were Coach, a 4-month old Treeing Walker coonhound/boxer mix from Philadelphia’s Morris Animal Refuge; and Linus, a 14-week-old Pomeranian/miniature poodle mix from Marlton’s New Life Animal Rescue.

This annual Animal Planet contest puts adorable puppies from animal shelters around the country on the playing field in their own version of the Super Bowl.

The hope is that the high-profile event will encourage watchers to adopt animals from local shelters.

This year, Team Fluff beat Team Ruff 63-59 that featured a last-second touchdown from Rocky Road, a New York German Shepherd mix.

Team Fluff reclaimed the Lombarky Trophy this year after falling last year to Team Ruff, 59-51.

And don’t forget about the halftime show — that is, the Kitten Halftime Show — which featured Lola, a feline from Philadelphia’s Morris Animal Refuge.
