The Crum Lynne firm, Target Building Construction, was construction manager for the $14.5 million transformation of a former historic bank in Kensington into the four-story Esperanza Health Center, writes John George for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The 35,000-square-foot health center is providing medical services in a medically underserved area.

“We are excited to invest in the health of this community and hope to be an anchor organization in the continued revitalization of Kensington,” said Susan Post, Esperanza’s executive director.

A $4 million, 95-space parking structure was built adjacent to the new health center.

When the center is at full capacity, it will provide a “medical home” to 12,000 patients from Kensington and surrounding neighborhoods and handle more than 50,000 patient visits annually.

Among the features of the health center are a healthy food café and community.

The health center is the first phase in Esperanza Health Center’s new health and wellness campus.

A community wellness center with an exercise center and conference center/community space will be built on an open lot next to the new health center.

Part two of the campus project is expected to cost $8 million and be completed in 2021.
