Delaware County Veterans Memorial Stands in Honor of Those Who Paid the Ultimate Price

The Delaware County Veterans Memorial in Newtown Square.

A Casket Flag Raising Ceremony can be a powerful way to honor the memory of a veteran. It’s one of the services offered by The Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association (DCVMA).

The ceremony is a celebration of a veteran’s life and sacrifice, a chance to memorialize your loved one. It takes place the second Sunday of every month, April through November, at the Veterans Memorial, 4599 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square.

Family members will have an opportunity to speak for about 5 minutes on their late veteran’s behalf.  A United States Flag which draped the casket of the deceased veteran, will fly above the Memorial.

“It is a powerful, moving and well-deserved posthumous memorial to someone who risked so much for our Country,” states a press release describing the ceremony.

Flag Ceremonies take place at 5 p.m. weather permitting. The Flag must be removed from any type of case or bag before being delivered to the Memorial and will be returned following the program.

Individuals interested in honoring a veteran with a Casket Flag Raising Ceremony can call the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association at (610) 400-8722, or contact the DCVMA by email at info@delcoveteransmemorial.com with questions.
