A House Democratic Policy Committee public hearing recently hosted by State Rep. Brian Kirkland at Chester City Hall focused on jobs and economic development, according to a report from the Daily Times.

The hearing was also attended by Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla and state legislators from across Pennsylvania. One of the issues discussed was the importance of creating more well-paying jobs with good benefits, while boosting local economic development.

“We had a great discussion today on what more we can do to connect Pennsylvania’s hard workers to the jobs that businesses need to fill,” said Kirkland.

Sturla said jobs that provide family-sustaining pay and benefits are crucial to building an economy that works for everyone.

Among the officials who made presentations to the committee were Drake Nakaishi, executive director of the Chester Economic Development Authority, and John Daly, executive director of the Delaware County Workforce Development Board.
